Short Stories/Tall Tales

LP (Item 791850) Mercury, 1979 — Condition: Near Mint-
(Cover has a cut corner.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Underground

Psychedelic Visions
Mercury/Wing, 1967. Very Good+
A classic set of raw raunchy rock from the late 60s – originally issued as kind of a "cash in" record to grab some bucks on the rise of psych and garage – but a record that easily stands head to head with the best of its time! Stella
Mercury, 1985. Very Good
Thank John Hughes & Ferris Beuller for the fame of this one – the album that pushed Yello over the top with the perennial favorite "Oh Yeah" – a tune that's been used countless times over the years since that famous soundtrack, and which still resonates on TV commercials ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mother Earth

Make A Joyful Noise
Mercury, 1969. Near Mint- Gatefold
Mother Earth definitely make a soulful noise on this excellent second set for Mercury Records – an album that has slightly fuller backings than their debut, but in a way that only seems to bring out more of the soulful currents of their sound! The mix of rural inspiration and tighter ... LP, Vinyl record album

Thin Lizzy

Johnny The Fox
Mercury, 1976. Near Mint-
Ok, so can we admit that we love this one for just what it is? Thin Lizzy's always been tops in our book – and at this point, they're at their best, and sound like everything that AM rock dreams are made of, albeit with a heavier crunch. However, in order to regain our credibility, we'll ... LP, Vinyl record album
