Three Fanfares For Brass & Percussion/Toccata Marziale/Folk Song Suite/Lincolnshire Posy/Shepherd's Hey – Fennell/Cleveland Symphony Winds

LP (Item 789183) Telarc, 1979 — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold

(Cover has lightly bent corners.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Dick Morgan

Settlin' In
Riverside, 1961. Very Good
One of a few rare 60s albums from pianist Dick Morgan – a player from the Washington DC scene who didn't make it onto record that much back in the day! Joe Benjamin plays bass and Ben Riley plays drums, and the set includes a good mix of Morgan originals like "Bash!" and "Settl ... LP, Vinyl record album

Exit 9

Straight Up
BRC, 1975. Very Good+
The one and only album by Exit 9 – an obscure funk combo who recorded this rare set for Brunswick in 1975! The group is extremely tight instrumentally – working at a very fast funky clip that's kind of similar to work by Bohannon or Sound Experience – both of whom shared Exit 9's ... Shirley Scott

For Members Only
Impulse, 1964. Very Good Gatefold
Groovin' set of tracks that has the lady organist in two settings – one with her trio with Jimmy Cobb on drums, the other with a hard swingin' big band led by Oliver Nelson. She's great with Nelson's band, and swings in the same hard way that Jimmy Smith does in the same setting. Tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album
