(Promo in Arista sleeve)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

An extremely catchy groover! A bit disco, a bit funk, and with some stellar work by Patrick Adams. The cut was written by Adams' old collaborator from Black Ivory days, Leroy Burgess – and it's got a hook that just won't quit. This version's a bit more soulful than the one on Sleeping Bag ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Total Experience, 1982. Very Good+
An 80s groove classic! "Outstanding" has some wonderful funky grooves and a killer 80s sound that's complete with very fat bass pedal grooves, and some tight keyboard work! The hook's a monster, and this rare single offers up 2 versions not on the LP! 12-inch, Vinyl record

A rare promo 12" single featuring one of the best Deodato tracks of the late 70s! "Whistle Bump" has a wonderfully spacey fusion groove – and sounds a lot like some of the best Larry Mizell work from the time. Deodato's keyboards are excellent on the track, which is offered ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Two nice ones from the smooth soul team of Grey & Hanks! "Dancin" is an uptempo groover – as you'd guess by the title – but with a smooth sound that keeps the proceedings nice and soulful. "How Can You Life" is a mellower tune – a nice little stepper with ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A nice little Latin dancefloor groover from Candido – more disco than earlier work, but in a good way, one that lets his conga go wild over the top of some smoother arrangements! The breakdown's nice and tasty, with arrangements by Joe Cain that keep the Latin grooves hard! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sire, 1983. Very Good (pic cover)
What can we say? Despite the stupid appearance of the band, "White Horse" was a classic breakdance/electro track that crossed over so big it had kids in Kansas running out to by parachute pants and squares of linoleum to play along with the kids in the Bronx. Despite that runaway hit ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Brunswick, 1980. Very Good
An excellent groover from the late Brunswick years – and the standout classic from this youthful club ensemble! The track's got a great snapping groove that's almost in the rollerskating mode – guitars riffing along with the groove, and vocals falling right into place with an ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
