So Happy

LP (Item 788444) Columbia, 1989 — Condition: Sealed
"I Got It" produced by Nile Rodgers.
(Still sealed, with a cutout hole and hype sticker.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Columbia, 1976. Near Mint-
An exceptional album from Bobby Womack's years at Columbia Records – and a record that brings together smooth and roosty styles wonderfully! Deniece Williams

This Is Niecy
Columbia, 1976. Very Good+
Genius work from Denice Williams – a singer who'd cracked the charts a bit as Denice Chandler, with a little girl soul sound, way back in the 60s – but who's grown up considerably by this essential 70s set! Chandler's voice is still a bit high – almost in a Minnie Riperton sort ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ever Ready
Columbia, 1978. Near Mint-
A sweet set from Johnnie Taylor's late 70s run on Columbia Records – and a set with a definite groove for the dancefloors! DJ Rogers

Trust Me
ARC/Columbia, 1979. Near Mint-
Great stuff – and one of DJ Rogers' most perfectly realized albums! DJ's righteous approach from earlier records is firmly intact – but it's given a bit of a boost, in that perfect Columbia smooth modern mode of the late 70s, with a clear indication that Maurice White and the Kalimba ... Columbia, 1960s. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
A sweet overview of the early years of Aretha Franklin's career – her formative days at Columbia Records, when she was working in a variety of styles before heading over to bigger fame at Atlantic! Atlantic, 1961. Very Good+
Pretty great stuff – and not the gimmicky "dance" record you might guess from the title! The set's simply a collection of some of Ray's best hard-hitting R&B tracks for Atlantic – mostly recorded in the 50s, and brought together with this 60s title, in a package that also ... Four Jewels/Jewels

Loaded With Goodies
BJM, 1985. Very Good+
A great set of female soul from D.C.'s Four Jewels (aka the Jewels) – who recorded some great sides for Checker and other labels in the 60s – nearly as strong as any indie harmony soul of the era! If fate dealt a different hand, the Jewels could have had a career that rivaled bigger ... LP, Vinyl record album
