Dylan & The Band's legendary Basement Tapes – those amazing late 60s Woodstock recordings – finally available after all these years in a definitive, officially-sanctioned box set for the first time ever! The original 1975 LP version was (and still is) an incredible sampler of the original recordings – also an appendix, with some later material added to it – and it really only hinted at the ragged glory of the 1967 sessions. Dylan's conversational, seemingly spontaneous lyricism stretches over a good portion of the originals, with some much more soulful numbers, too – and those are all the more effective with The Band's incredible instrumentation, backing and occasional lead vocals. Here for the first time ever is a legitimate release of a great wealth of the raw, original Woodstock recordings, painstakingly restored from the original master tapes – but without the overdubs, editing and tinkerings of the mid 70s LP version, and other tracks that never been officially released in any form! The Complete box set edition is truly incredible – with the material laid out as close to chronological order as possible, as based on Garth Hudson's session recording numbering system – and it really is as close a true, complete Basement Tapes as the world is ever likely to see. 138 tracks on 6CDs – including "Edge Of The Ocean", "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It", "Johnny Todd", "The Hills Of Mexico", "Too Much Of Nothing (Take 2)", "Tears of Rage (Take 1)", "It Ain't Me Babe", "Ain't No More Cane (Take 2)", "900 Miles From Home", "One Kind Of Favor", "All You Have To Do Is Dream (Take 1)", "2 Dollars And 99 Cents", "Down By The Station", "Cok All Ye Fair And Tender Ladies", "The Spanish Song (Take 1)" and many, many more. Also includes a 120-page deluxe-bound book with rare and unseen photos and extensive notes.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Columbia, 1971. Used
One of the more heavily brooding albums ever cut by Leonard Cohen – and also one of the best – the iconic Songs Of Love And Hate from 1971! Cohen's aptly titled third LP, with the nice spare approach to production that most of his early work had, even more stripped down, with voice and ... CD

Joe Byrd & The Field Hippies

American Metaphysical Circus
Columbia/Acadia (UK), 1969. Used
An amazing little record from Joe Byrd – an artist with roots in serious music, but who's serving things up here with a wild hippie aesthetic that makes the whole thing come across more like a "happening" than the usual sort of studio album – but in ways that also echo an ... CD
