Bruits Et Temps Analogues

LP (Item 784195) Egg (France), 1976 — Condition: Very Good+

Definitely the sounds promised in the title – and a sweet little set from 70s Paris, and one that bridges the gap between earlier electric prog and some of the clubbier cosmic sounds to come! The tunes are heavy on keyboards – great moog, Arp, and Fender Rhodes played by Patrick Vian and Georges Granier – mixed with guitar from Bernard Lavialle and lots of cool percussion from Mino Cinelu – all with a style that echoes some of the best modes of the Sky Records scene in Germany, but which has a tighter, more melodic approach overall! Things are still plenty trippy, but have a great sort of focus too – a wonderful balance that really makes the record stand out from more noodly, self-indulgent sets of the time. Titles include "Oreknock", "Sphere", "Grosse Nacht Musik", "Barong Rouge", "Tricentennial Drag", and "R&B Degenerit".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Recent German Staubgold pressing.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Emitt Rhodes
Dunhill, 1970. Very Good Gatefold
A really great self-titled set from Emitt Rhodes – a compelling California singer who hardly ever gets his due! By 1981, the gentlemen Devo had been up to their collective arse in irony since the early 70s, and having made a sizable fortune for the Brothers' Warner with the ultra-ironic "Whip It" the previous year, they took a sharp right turn into cranky sincerity. They did so on a wave of new ... LP, Vinyl record album

Devo's second album didn't scare the bejesus out of 70s rock fans in the way of their agitpop masterpiece debut, and the group's mainstream salad days of "Whip It" were still another year or two away, but nowadays we wouldn't trade Duty Now For The Future for just about any post punk ... Mercury, 1987. Near Mint-
A surprisingly great guilty pleasure from the 80s – the first album from Swing Out Sister, recorded when all the excitement of the UK post punk scene had just about faded, and most of the groups had left their exciting early roots behind.
