Guitar Session

LP (Item 777058) Philips (Japan), 1977 — Condition: Near Mint-
A sweet direct-cutting audiophile session – with guitars from Jay Berliner, Gene Bertoncini, Toots Thielemans, and Richard Resnicoff – plus alto and flute from Frank Wess, trumpet from Joe Newman, and tenor and flute from Seldon Powell!  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Lars Gullin/Ake Persson
Philips (Sweden), 1957. Very Good+
A tremendous team from the Swedish scene of the 50s – Lars Gullin on baritone sax and Ake Persson on trombone – as great of a match on their instruments as Gerry Mulligan and Bob Brookmeyer in the US! But the music of Gullin and Persson is no simple copycat of American modes either ... LP, Vinyl record album

Philips (Germany), 1963. Very Good-

Ron Carter

Yellow & Green
CTI, 1976. Near Mint- Gatefold

One of Dizzy Gillespie's hippest big band sessions ever – and one of the few dates as a leader from arranger Gil Fuller! Fuller will always be best-remembered as the man who composed some of Dizzy Gillespie's best known tunes from the bop era – like "Manteca", "One Bass ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hank Crawford

Tico Rico
Kudu, 1976. Near Mint-

Deodato

Night Cruiser
Warner, 1980. Near Mint-
A key record in Deodato's move from funky jazz in the 70s to modern soul in the 80s – and one that showcases the best of his talents in both genres!
