Glory Of Love

LP (Item 7752) A&M/CTI, 1967 — Condition: Very Good
Gatefold
Herbie Mann's soulful flute meets the breezy production values of CTI/A&M, for a good set of tracks that have a light easy feel to them, and a nice post-bossa groove! The set includes a good cover of "Upa, Neguinho", plus "Love Is Stronger Far Than We", "The Letter", "In & Out", and "No Use Crying". Arrangements by Roy Glover, Herb Bernstein, and Herbie himself.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Excellent Verve work from Herbie – a sweet little set with a nice Latin undercurrent! Herbie Mann

Yardbird Suite
Savoy, 1957. Near Mint-
Very early work from Herbie Mann – delivered with a lot more fire than some of his later sides! A sweet soulful set from Herbie Mann – one that has the jazz flautist taking on the 60s sound of Memphis! Hold On, I'm Comin'
Atlantic, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
Great early 70s work from Herbie Mann! By this point in his career, Herbie must have had a fleet of cars, a harem of ladies, and a golden flute. Atlantic, 1962. Very Good
A great album of bossa groovers, recorded by Herbie in the early days of the US bossa boom – and with a sound that's right on the money! The backing's very lively, and the tracks have a tight bossa sound that's quite authentic. Herbie's flute is livelier than usual, and on a set like this, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Atlantic, 1966. Near Mint-
Herbie Mann got a standing ovation for this performance – at least if the title is to be believed – and considering the grooves on the set, it was all for very good reason! Les McCann

Man
A&M, 1978. Near Mint-
A late 70s electric effort from McCann, not quite as sublime as some his records from a few years before this, but with some funky bits, and some vocals from Les. The best moments are the laidback mellow tracks, which have sort of a smooth Bobby Lyle feel to them. These titles include "The ... LP, Vinyl record album
