LP, Vinyl record album

4.90 11

A great little album by the Undisputed Truth – with more than a few numbers that have a "space" theme to them, and cool keyboards by Mark Davis to back up the sound. More than a few funky moments in the mix – and tracks include "1990", "Sqeeze Me Tease Me", "Earthquake Snake", "Spaced Out", and the great cut "UFO's". (Cover has some wear and a few small peeled spots.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gordy, 1972. Very Good- Gatefold
A masterful album of righteous trippy soul – recorded during the height of the Temptations' strong association with Norman Whitfield! The record has more than a few political/social conscience songs – like "Take A Look Around", "Stop The War Now", and "Superstar ... LP, Vinyl record album

End, Late 50s. Very Good-
One of the great End LPs by The Flamingos, who at this point were at their peak, and were recording with these amazing studio arrangements by Sammy Lowe. Lots of cool stuff in the same vein as "I Only Have Eyes For You", like "Besame Mucho", "You Belong To My Heart", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Capitol, 1976. Very Good
A record that really has Natalie Cole finding her groove – not needing any help from her famous familial legacy, thank you – and instead stepping out with a tight, proud mode that really helped refine the sound of female soul in the 70s! The album's got plenty of influences from the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1963. Very Good+ Gatefold
Unlike the mellower Breeze from the East LP (another Tjader "eastern" session), this one's got some very lively Latiny stuff – despite the orientalist theme of the LP. There's a monster version of Horace Silver's "Tokyo Blues", plus takes of Lalo Schifrin's "The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Blue Note, 1958. Fair
One of the best of Lou's earlier Blue Note albums – a hard-wailing soul jazz set with some very hip conga in the mix! The group's a really solid one – Lou's famous early quartet – and Herman Foster plays piano, Peck Morrison's on bass, and Dave Bailey's on drums. A young Ray ... LP, Vinyl record album

A gem of a record from Chico Hamilton – maybe our favorite album ever from the legendary drummer! The set's a fantastic bit of nuttiness, with Chico leading a tight group with Steven Potts on alto and Russell Andrews on tenor, both playing hard over a subdued background of four trombones ...
