Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

The title's a bit misleading – as Chet Baker never really stopped singing, and in fact had found a way to mix his vocals with really nicely stretched-out solos on some of his European recordings from this generation! But the set does feature maybe a bit more vocals upfront than some of Chet's ... CD

Love Song
Baystate (Japan), 1986. Used
A late Dutch session from Chet Baker – beautifully recorded with a very spacious approach – one that's a bit more careful and sensitive than some of Baker's other records from the time, in a way that captures his aging sense of sadness wonderfully! The sound is totally great – ... CD
Riverside/OJC, 1958. Used

One of the last albums that Chet Baker recorded – and a set that changes things up a bit from the smaller combo setting of most of his final decade! The set features some small group work, but also brings in larger orchestrations on a number of tracks – balancing the fragility of Baker' ... CD

2 CD set of the albums "You Can't Go Home Again" and "The Best Thing For You", as well as 9 bonus tracks! A surprisingly great electric session by Chet Baker from the 70s – and a record that's got a bit more force and power than most of his other sets at the time! The ... CD
Verve (Japan), 1962. Used Gatefold
A rare non-Blue Note session from The Three Sounds – recorded in the early 60s for Verve, and really the group's only straight album for that label! The style here is similar to the Blue Note sides – with Gene Harris firmly at the helm of the group on piano – hitting that fluidly ... CD
Venus (Japan), 1992. Used
Beautifully mellow work from the great Marion Brown – playing here in a laidback quintet setting that brings out some of his most soulful tones. The group includes piano, guitar, bass, and drums – but the main focus is on the alto of Brown, which has a warm world-weary tone that's very ... CD
