Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Little Beaver

Party Down
Collectables, 1974. Used
A funky classic from Little Beaver – one of the best albums to come out of the Miami scene of the mid 70s! Little Beaver lays down some righteous guitar and heavy vocals over a cool spare backing groove on this one. It's a party, alright, but it's got the feel of the smoldering, latenight ... CD

William DeVaughn

Be Thankful For What You Got
Roxbury/Collectables, 1974. Used
One of the undisputed masterpieces LPs of 70s soul! William De Vaughn may never be remembered for anything else – and the poor guy will always be mistaken for Curtis Mayfield by record shoppers everywhere – but he really out-Curtised Curtis on the super-dope original version of "Be ... CD

Lou Rawls with Les McCann Ltd

Stormy Monday (with bonus tracks)
Capitol, 1962. Used
One of Lou's most jazz-oriented albums – featuring backing by Les McCann's famous trio with Leroy Vinnegar and Ron Jefferson, perfectly suited to Lou's soulful renditions of the tunes on the album. Most of the numbers are bluesy ones, but as usual, Lou manages to give them his own hip twist ... CD
Sequel (UK), Mid 70s. Used
Two tasty albums of 70s soul cut by Jim Gilstrap – a singer who mostly did background or session work during the decade, but who stands up well here on his own! Both albums have a similar feel – a mix of smoother 70s grooves, with some sweet soul moments, and others that are in more of ... CD

George Clinton & The P-Funk All Stars

TAPOAFOM
Sony, 1996. Used
We have to be honest, by this point we'd all but given up on George. But the truth is, Clinton and crew have pulled off a decent job of turning the tables on the whole G-funk scene, and taking a page or two out of their book, after they'd done the same to him for years! While we'd never claim ... CD
Warner, 1993. Used
A really well-titled set from Frankie Beverly & Maze – as the album takes the group right back to the mellow-stepping sound that first made them great back in the 70s! Production's a bit more updated, but still very laidback – and there's a smoothly-grooving glow to the record we ... CD
