Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Stella Chiweshe

Kasawah – Early Singles
Glitterbeat (Germany), 1970s. Used
Really lovely work from Stella Chiweshe – both a singer and a hell of an mbira player – both talents that get equal play on this collection of early singles from the 70s! In fact, the set feels a lot less like some African singles from the time, than a unified album that really offers ... CD

Igna Igwebuike

Bomp
PMG (Austria), 1980. Used
Sweet funky sounds from east Nigeria, circa 1980 – a great little set that's got a laidback groove, and a style that's clearly learned plenty from the hipper corners of the American funk universe! The approach is a bit like funky club at times, a bit more like some of the larger funk acts of ... CD
Putumayo, 2002. Used
Traditional Latin rhythms meet with modern electronic and hip hop touches – in a set of tracks that are very much in keeping with other Putumayo sets! Titles include "Linda Manigua" by Sidestepper, "Salsita" by Sin Palbras, "El Carretero" by Barrio Cubano De ... CD

PMG (Austria), 1975. Used
The title's no like – as these guys definitely groove, and they're definitely funky too – a sweet 70s combo from the Lagos scene, and one who play with a very sharp edge at their core! Aktion make nice use of darker, downturning chords – which creates a moody feel to their funk, ... CD

Segun Bucknor

Segun Bucknor
PMG (Austria), 1975. Used
Seminal sounds from Segun Bucknor – one of the most soulful singers on the Nigerian scene of the 70s, and an artist who can mix funky grooves with some of the deeper currents and moodier themes that you'll hear in Zamrock recordings of the time! The album begins with some excellent upbeat ... CD

Paco De Lucia

Live One Summer Night
Philips (Spain), 1984. Used
A wonderfully rich extrapolation of the sound of Paco DeLucia – still served up with all the intensity of his solo guitar work of the 70s, but also with some additional instrumentation that helps bring out a stronger jazz vibe too! The approach is different than Paco's early jazz flamenco ... CD

Harry Mosco

Country Boy
PMG (Austria), 1978. Used
Sweet grooves from Harry Mosco – once the leader of The Funkees, but stepping out here with some wicked work from the London scene at the end of the 70s! The album's got a snapping electric vibe – sometimes clubby, but with more of a funk feel overall – thanks to some heavy ... CD
Fantasy, 1960. Used
2 of Mongo Santamaria's rarest albums for Fantasy, released on 1 CD! Both albums were recorded in Cuba during Mongo's brief return to his homeland in 1960, and they have a much rootsier feel than any of his other albums from the time. Willie Bobo joined Mongo in Havana for the sessions, and most ... CD
