Genuine Ruby

LP (Item 7559) ABC, 1977 — Condition: Very Good+

Although she began her career as more of a hard soul diva, this LP from the late 70's is a bit of an attempt to turn her into a club diva. The track "Queen Of The Disco" would be the biggest proof of this, but there's also a bunch of nice cuts that have more of a soul feel to them, and the set does include arrangements by David VanDepitt and McKinley Jackson, who do a good job of getting the best out of Ruby. Tracks include "A Change Is Gonna Come", "A Love Feeling", "A Little Fixin Up", and "I Wanna Be Near You". Earl Van Dyke plays keyboards, too!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cold Blood are still going strong in the mid 70s – a lot stronger than anyone would imagine for a group that was kind of a white-boy (and girl) soul group coming out of the magical Bay Area scene of the late 60s.
