Charlie Parker – Bird On Verve Volume 5

LP (Item 75588) Verve (France), 1951 — Condition: Sealed

A bit small group, a bit Latin – and a nice collection that features two 1951 sessions by Charlie Parker! Side one features a quintet side – done with Walter Bishop on piano, Miles Davis on trumpet, Teddy Kotick on bass, and Max Roach on drums – all playing master takes and alternates of tunes that include "Au Privave", "She Rote", "Star Eyes", and "KC Blues". Side two features Parker, Bishop, Kotick, and Roy Haynes – plus added Latin percussion – on tracks that include "Un Poquito De Tu Amor", "Fiesta", "Tico Tico", and "My Little Suede Shoes".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(80s French pressing.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Posthumous issue of an early 50s live set by Charlier Parker – one of the many that were rushed to the public in the years after his early death. Charlie Parker takes on the music of Cole Porter – with results that make for some of his most classic moments at Verve!
