This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
The title's an apt one, because Billie Poole sings here in a mode that's steeped in styles borrowed strongly from gospel and blues – but delivered more in a jazz-based mode overall! The backing here is one aspect that makes the record especially strong – a quartet with Kenny Burrell on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sweet soul from Carmen McRae – a great 70s album for Blue Note, and one that has the classic singer moving into some very groovy material! The feel here is much more soul than jazz – at least the jazz of the torchy style from Carmen's roots – but as you'd guess from McRae, the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A collection of recordings from 1945 through 1947, with accompaniment by Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, The Earl Rodgers Choir, The Richarld Maltby String Orchestra, and others. LP, Vinyl record album
A sexy little set from singer Meg Myles – recorded live before a very adult nightclub crowd – with a great set of tunes to match! The record's got a lot more energy than Meg's previous material from the 50s – and Myles really has a way of swinging things with a sensual sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Very obscure record made by the enigmatic Leo Gooden, a politician and night club owner from East St. Louis who made a few records on his own tiny LG label. Gooden's an interesting guy – probably more interesting than he is musically capable – and we're always amazed at the people he ... LP, Vinyl record album
