Women's Love Rights – The Hot Wax Anthology

CD (Item 753218) Castle (UK), Early 70s — Condition: Used
2 CDs
Out Of Stock

A stunning 2 CD set that compiles all the soulful tracks that Laura Lee cut during the early 70's! Laura was a great southern soul singer in the early 70s – with a hard soulful voice that was easily one of the best of the time – and her rare Hot Wax recordings are always a treat, with an all-solid, no-filler approach all the time. This set features loads of great tracks – more than we'd been aware she ever did – including "Women's Love Rights", "Rip Off", "I'll Catch You When You Fall", "Her Picture Matches Mine", "Crumbs Off The Table", "Mirror Of Your Soul", and the heartbreaking "It's Not What You Fall For, It's What You Stand For". Great work, and 29 tracks in all!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

One of Motown's leading hopes in the early 80s soul scene, and for good reason too! These guys have a wonderfully well-rounded approach – great on ballads and even more compelling on groovers – a balance here that puts them proudly in the company of contemporaries like Maze or Slave, ... CD

11 tracks from one of George Clinton's loveliest groups! Parlet were clearly George's most disco-oriented group – featuring a trio of female voices in the lead (ala First Choice or Three Degrees), with backing by Parliament and the rest of the P-Funk crew. The tracks tend to be a bit longer ... CD

A surprisingly great album from DeBarge – proof that the group really had something great at the start! Much as we'd like to dismiss DeBarge for their dated costumes and silly covers, the group still stands as one of the strongest pop acts from early 80s Motown – and have an undeniably ... CD
