Fall — Hex Enduction Hour By The Fall ... LP 19.99

One of our key go-to albums by The Fall – a set in which all their early promise really came into focus – with even more wit and power than before! The jagged lyricism of Mark E Smith is razor-sharp – as is the instrumentation, which is heavy on that trademark noisy guitar from Craig Scanlon, weird keyboards from Marc Riley, and the driving power of the double drummers in the group! The music is every bit as textually explosive as the words on the cover – and titles include "Who Makes The Nazis", "And This Day", "Jawbone & The Air Rifle", "The Classical", "Mere Psued Mag Ed", "Fortress/Deer Park", and the classic "Hip Priest".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Recent reissue on Superior Viaduct, still in the shrink.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Fall

Dragnet
Step Forward (UK), 1979. Near Mint-
One of the boldest early statements from the legendary Fall – a set in which all their energy and mad tunecraft really comes together, and forever put the group on the map! There's a sense of song structure here, but still plenty of noise and weird bits – music that really shows just ... LP, Vinyl record album
Beggars Banquet (UK), 1985. Sealed
One of the best 80s sets of acerbic, razor sharp postpunk from The Fall – 1985's legendary This Nation's Saving Grace – definitely a highpoint from one of their most creatively fertile periods. Sonically, it's one of their coolest records, ranging from heavy, sinister mood with enough ... LP, Vinyl record album

George Harrison

Electronic Sound
Apple, 1969. Very Good+
A real oddity from George Harrison – a record of abstract electronics, cut right around the same time as his bigger mainstream solo hits! Elektra, 1983. Near Mint-
The last true masterpiece by the greatest rock band to ever come out of the late 70s and early 80s L.A. scene. More Fun In The New World serves in a lot of ways as X's upright middle finger to the early years of the Reagan era, with the anthemic opener "The New World", and the ballad ... Bearsville, 1973. Near Mint- Gatefold
One of the first really tripped-out albums from Todd Rundgren – a record that makes us think he must have been getting a lot into his head since the time in the studio for Something/Anything! While not a concept album, the record does have a clearly stated "quest for knowledge and quest ... LP, Vinyl record album

Polydor, 1978. Very Good+
A masterpiece – and don't pass it up! Sure, the date's a bit later than some of Roy's classic work, but the record's got a sound like no other – with a slow mellow jazzy style that shows Roy working at the height of his powers! There's some wonderful spacey production on the record ... LP, Vinyl record album
Riverside, 1960. Near Mint-
They're not kidding with the title of this one – because although the record was only Wes Montgomery's second album as a leader, he was already making plenty of waves with the sound of his guitar! This Old Heart Of Mine
Tamla, 1966. Near Mint-
The Isley Brothers on Motown – a really key step forward for the group, who find a whole new level of soul with help from the Holland Dozier Holland team!
