Daughter Of Time

LP (Item 744190) Dunhill, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
A full-on jazz rock classic from Colosseum – still grooving hard here, and in an expanded version of their early sound! The core group's still very much in power – with some great organ and vibes from Dave Greenslade, fierce sax work from Dick Heckstall-Smith, and pounding drums from Jon Hiseman – but the album also adds in a bit more instrumentation, and expanded arrangements from Neil Ardley – for a sound that's got some even more majestic touches than before! The excellent (and under-rated) Barbara Thompson plays some flute, alto, and soprano sax on the set – and titles include "Three Score & Ten Amen", "Time Lament", "Take Me Back To Doomsday", "Theme For An Imaginary Western", "Bring Out Your Dead", and "The Daughter Of Time".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has splitting on the top seam, surface wear, and a cutout hole.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Emitt Rhodes

Emitt Rhodes
Dunhill, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold
A really great self-titled set from Emitt Rhodes – a compelling California singer who hardly ever gets his due! The music's a wonderful mix of California late 60s singer/songwriter modes and bits of Beatles-esque production – a blend that makes for a fuller feel than usual for a record ... Roy Head

Same People
Dunhill, 1970. Sealed
A classic bit of southern funky rock from Roy Head – an artist who's in the same territory here as Tony Joe White on his early albums for Monument! Like Tony on those gems, Roy's got a heavy dose of soul in his music – produced to perfection by Huey P Meaux, who was handling plenty of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bobby Whitlock

Raw Velvet
Dunhill/ABC, Early 70s. Very Good+
Bobby Whitlock really comes into his own here – working in a style that's tighter and more confident than his debut – yet which is also still drenched in all the best southern styles of his roots! Production is rich, but never too commercial – and the album shows some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

B-52s

B-52s
Warner, 1979. Very Good
A hell of a debut from The B-52s – and a record that's become surprisingly timeless over the years, despite a retro-styled approach by the group! These guys aren't the silly group of later years here – and instead, they've got this moody darkness that's wonderful – a re-envisioned ... LP, Vinyl record album

Flash Fearless Vs The Zorg Women – Parts 5 & 6
Chrysalis, 1975. Near Mint-
A strange little record from the days when the music industry had so much money to throw around, they could make sessions like these! The record is sort of a space rock opera – featuring a huge cast of stars like Cooper, Moon, Hopkins, John Entwistle, Jim Dandy, Eddie Jobson, Elkie Brooks, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Warner/EG, 1984. Very Good
The last of the "revival" King Crimson from the early 80s – featuring the lineup that included Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, and Tony Levin.
