LP (Item 743872) Reprise, 1989 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has a promo stamp.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Little Richard

Second Coming
Reprise, 1972. Very Good+
Funky 70s Little Richard – very much in the spirit of his Rill Thing album, although a bit more polished! Little Richard

Rill Thing
Reprise, 1970. Near Mint-
A mindblowing set from Little Richard – a stunning comeback session from the start of the 70s – recorded at Muscle Shoals with a heavy funk component in the mix! Richard arranged and produced the record himself – and it's a beautiful illustration of his genius – hardly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Little Richard

King Of Rock & Roll
Reprise, 1971. Near Mint-
A much rootsier set than some of Little Richard's other work for Reprise Records – a record that almost goes back to the old days, but via the hipper styles of the early 70s! HB Barnum arranged and produced the set, but the groove is less funkier than some of Barnum's other work of the time ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sunday's Child

Sunday's Child
Sunnyside/Reprise, 1970. Very Good
A pretty great trio of female vocalists – taking that 60s Motown sound into a deeper vein, like the work of the Sweet Inspirations for Atlantic during the same time. The album's got a nice rootsy sound – despite its LA roots – and the girls alternate between singing harmonies and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roy Ayers

You Send Me
Polydor, 1978. Very Good+
A masterpiece – and don't pass it up! Sure, the date's a bit later than some of Roy's classic work, but the record's got a sound like no other – with a slow mellow jazzy style that shows Roy working at the height of his powers! This Old Heart Of Mine
Tamla, 1966. Near Mint-
The Isley Brothers on Motown – a really key step forward for the group, who find a whole new level of soul with help from the Holland Dozier Holland team! There Is
Cadet, 1968. Very Good+

Warner, 1978. Very Good+ Gatefold
An instant classic the day it was released – and a perfect blending of the group's older freaked-out style with a slick late 70s funk sound that started showing up in the work of many other groups. "One Nation Under A Groove" is a monster cut with a hook that won't quit, and the LP ... LP, Vinyl record album

Isaac Hayes

U-Turn
Columbia, 1986. Very Good+
A sweet little comeback album for Isaac Hayes in the mid 80s – really going all in with a crisp and bouncy 80s soul groove – a far stretch from the smouldering and soaring funk of the 70s, but a record that's a lot easier to appreciate that a love for 80s sounds has crept back up into ...
