Groove-A-Thon

LP (Item 7421) Hot Buttered Soul/ABC, 1976 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold

After leaving Stax, Ike seemed to be trying to turn himself into more of a Barry White-style artist – with more emphasis on original tracks about love and loving, instead of his older method of transforming pop hits into little baroque symphonies. On a record like this, the approach meant that Ike was sometimes hitting a disco mode, but at the best points, he's also in more of a sweet mellow soul style. Tracks include "Rock Me Easy Baby", "Your Loving Is Much Too Strong", "We've Got A Whole Lot Of Love", and "Make A Little Love To Me".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has a cutout notch.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Promo only vinyl sampler of tracks from this Ike Hayes' 90s "comeback" album! Isaac Hayes

Black Moses
Enterprise, 1971. Near Mint- 2LP
Baroquely beautiful work from the Stax soul master – one of Isaac Hayes' heaviest albums of the 70s – and a record so massive, they needed 2LPs to contain the whole thing! Isaac Hayes Movement
Enterprise, 1970. Very Good Gatefold
Stellar soul from Isaac Hayes – just the sort of overblown masterpiece that made his early solo work on Stax Records so great! Street Corner Symphony

Little Funk Machine
ABC, 1976. Very Good+

Angelo Bond

Bondage
ABC, 1975. Very Good+
We've got to admit, we don't know much about Angelo Bond, but we've always had kind of a soft spot for this nice overlooked album of 70s soul tracks recorded for ABC. Sheer Elegance

Sheer Elegance
ABC, 1976. Very Good+
A strange little soul group from the UK – one that has a mix of influences that include Jamaican soul, American pop, and even a bit of gospel. Solomon Burke

I Have A Dream
ABC, 1974. Very Good+
Surprisingly nice work! Like the rest of Solomon's post-Atlantic LPs, this one has a sound that's different than his classic work, but which also exposes a whole new side of his talent, and range of vocals that didn't always show up for Atlantic. Solomon arranged and produced here, and the sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Set A Pattern
ABC, Late 60s. Near Mint-
