Ultimate Breaks & Beats Vol 2

LP (Item 73917) Street Beat, 1970s/1980s — Condition: Very Good

One of the first Ultimate Breaks and Beats sets – packed with hard-hitting funky tunes, of the sort that played big in South Bronx street parties! 6 tracks in all, 4 with the break edited and extended: Wilson Picket's "Get Me Back On Time", Juice's "Catch A Groove"*, The Rolling Stones' "Honkey Tonk Woman" and Disco Italiano's "Chella Lla", plus Funkadelic's "You'll Like It Too" and Roy Ayers' "Boogie Back",  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rare Brazilian funk from the early 80s – served up here on a range of tracks that originally appeared on Brazil's unique 7" compacto format at the time! Disco Gold
Scepter, 1975. Near Mint-
During the mid 70s, some of the older New York soul indies were the first to get on the disco tip – and one of the biggest was Scepter Records, who found the burgeoning movement to be a perfect foil for some of its older vocal groups and singers. This set is a lost 1975 release on Scepter, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Not much of a cover – but a really great collection of grooves – of the sort that really takes us back to the first few home grown funky 45 compilations of the 90s! The set really goes for the best of the classic early funk 45 sound – tracks with hard drums, sharp riffing guitars ... LP, Vinyl record album

A huge festival of 70s soul – not the big hits of the time, but a wealth of underground gemes that show us there's still plenty to discover in that magical decade! A fantastic collection of mellow 70s soul – one that's even better than you might guess from the cover or title! The tracks here are all pretty rare – hence the "wants list" title – but even more than that, they're a spectacular example of the best sort of sophisticated ... LP, Vinyl record album

Charles Earland

Infant Eyes
Muse, 1979. Very Good+
An overlooked Hammond slammer from Charles Earland – cut at a time when he was working on more electric keyboards for other labels. The set's a killer all the way through – very much in the best early 70s Prestige Records mode – with long tracks that really jam, and a lineup that ... LP, Vinyl record album
Verve, 1968. Near Mint-
A very groovy album that has Milt playing jazzy vibes with a tight string quartet that does more than just back him up – they sort of solo and provide some rhythm, too, and give the whole album a very very cool sound. The rest of the lineup's great, too, because James Moody is all over the ... LP, Vinyl record album
