Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play,
but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic,
with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a
cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner
and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay,
though probably with surface noise.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A surprisingly great set of African tracks – surprising because they were recorded as part of an ABC documentary from the 60s, but end up having a really great ethnographic feel! The album features work from all over the continent – recordings from Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Senegal, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mostly "east" – as the violin of the famous solist comes into play with the sitar of Ravi Shankar, plus tabla and tanpura! The vibe's a bit like some of the best John Mayer albums, although less jazz. LP, Vinyl record album
Kwame handles vocals and guitar – and gets great backing from a host of US musicians who include Roland Hanna on piano, Ron Carter on bass, Billy Cobham on drums, Bilal Abdurahman on flute and sax – and lots of percussion from Ray Barretto , Chief Bey, Leo Mensah, and others! Esmond ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nigerian funk & boogie numbers from the late 70s & early 80s – post Afrobeat and post disco material from the prosperous, post dictatorship years – funk, soul and disco infused stormers from Mixed Grill, Bayo Damnazio, The Stormmers, Joe Maks, Segun Robert, Martha Ulaeto, Honey ... LP, Vinyl record album
Lots of heavy percussion and vocals – in the best yoruba style! Production is nice and raw – almost more ethnographic in approach. LP, Vinyl record album
Not the Caravan group of Brit jazz rock fame, but a later Thai combo – working here in sharp protest of American military action in Southeast Asia during the 70s! The set's got a really unique regional flavor – a folksy blend of acoustic instruments and voices that often has guitar ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great stuff from this short-lived UK soul group – and a record that includes the monster title cut "Sad Sweet Dreamer". The record's filled with other great harmony soul tracks, and it's hard to believe it was recorded in the UK, because it sounds much more like an East Coast soul ... LP, Vinyl record album
An excellent album of uptown soul from Freddie – recorded after his work for Colpix, with arrangements by Belford Hendricks and Garry Sherman, in a sweet 60s New York mode! Freddie's vocals are great – much more mature than before, with a mixture of deep and sophisticated soul that ... LP, Vinyl record album
