Blowout Comb

Digable Planets — Blowout Comb ... CD 12.99
The laidback classic! The Digables certainly weren't the first or the most innovative hip hop group to rely upon cooled out jazzy grooves for the backbone of their sound, but they really brought it home with a hugely endearing and long enduring vibe – and this is their masterpiece! All these years later, Blowout Comb is still pure gold. Loads of tripped out arrangements on live instruments – which is a huge step for the group after their largely sampled debut – and layer upon layer of groovy vocals in addition to the easy rhymes of Butterfly, Ladybug and Doodlebug. Also includes an appearance by Jeru! Probably the catchiest jazz-rap fusion record of all time! Tracks include "The May 4th Movement Starring Doodlebug", "Black Ego", "Dog It", "Jettin", "Borough Check", "Highing Fly", "Dial 7", "The Art Of Easing", "K.B.'s Alley", "Graffiti", "Blowing Down", "9th Wonder", and "For Corners".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Recent reissue on Light In The Attic/Modern Classics, sealed. Appears to be a black vinyl pressing. Cover has light corner bumps.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
