Dynamic gospel soul from the Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi – featuring tracks from 2 incredible Peacock LPs, tunes that were cut throughout the 50s and in 1964 – back to back on a great CD! The first 11 tracks of the CD features all of the numbers from the 1964 LP Father I Stretch My Hands To Thee – with glorious harmonies and searing lead vocals by Henry Johnson, who capably stepped into some pretty big shoes left after the death of Archie Brownlee in 1960. Titles include "Something To Shout About", "Time Is Winding Up", "Oh Why", "Just A Little While" and more. The LP Precious Memories makes up the remaining 11 tracks on the CD – a slightly rootsier sounding set with Brownlee's incredible, emotive lead vocals fronting the beautiful harmonies. The set is made up of tracks recorded throughout the 1950s and released as an LP in '61. Titles include "Our Father", "Come Home", "Song Of Praise", "Walk Together Children", "That Awful Hour", "Don't Give Up" and more! (Out of print.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Ghostly sounds from the earliest days of the 78rpm recording – a time when American evangelism was on the rise, and the new sonic format turned out to have as much social power as the flaming sword of the Lord! The music here was all recorded in the 1890s – some under studio guidance ... CD

Sweet and gritty soul from D'Angelo – who takes a huge step into deeper territory on Voodoo – and it's one of the most monumental records of its time! On one level, Voodoo works as a nicely stripped-down session with a very classic soul feel. Gone are the overzealous flourishes that ... CD

An amazing record! This one's probably our favorite Isley Brothers album of all time – and it's a perfect blend of all the styles they were into at the time – heavy funk, sweet soul, folksy rock, and rolling uptempo grooves! The Brothers handle all styles equally well, and the album's ... CD
