Show Elis e Miele

CD (Item 732088) Philips (Brazil), 1970 — Condition: Used
$9.99 ...

CD

Originally: 11.99
Great stuff! In a manner that's similar to (but better than) her live albums with Jair Rodriguez, Elis performs here in a great live show with the nutty Miele. The backing is by the Elis 5, led by Roberto Menescal, and they have a great groove that supports the material very nicely. Plus, the presence of Miele adds a lot of humor to the album, and his English language commentary opens the fun of the show up to American listeners like this. The album's a real treat – and a lost mad chapter of Elis' rich career! Includes a groovy version of "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You", Caetano Veloso's "Irena", plus the songs "Samba Da Bencao", "Casa Forte", "Carolina", and "Aquele Abraco".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Elis Regina never lets us down – as you'll hear on this great record from 1971! The album captures Elis straddling the fence of her styles – one foot in the older jazzy bossa/samba camp, the other in the more sophisticated range of baroque MPB she virtually invented. Her voice is ... CD

You know, the more we listen to Caetano Veloso, the more we realize that just about every record he made was fantastic! Take this record – it's got a late date, and you might think that it's going to be some sort of throwaway eighties pop material – but it's actually great, and sounds ... CD

An incredible album – and a landmark session that showed that the bossa nova was still alive and well in the 1970s! The album pairs the breathy jazz vocals of Elis Regina with the booze-soaked warmth of Antonio Carlos Jobim – in a set of spare arrangements that feature a lot of touches ... CD
