Dyn-O-Mite

LP (Item 7312) Buddah, 1975 — Condition: Very Good+
The lasting recorded legacy of Jimmy Walker – and material that shows a much sharper, much smarter side of his personality than his character on Good Times! Walker's got a fast-talking, bad-rapping approach that's definitely rooted in the party record scene of the 60s – yet which is also turned here to deliver a bit more social commentary – maybe a bit of Bill Cosby wit filtered in to clean things up, as Walker turns his talents to 70s society on both sides of the tracks. Plenty of great stuff to sample here, including "The Black Prince Has Arrived" and "Show Biz", a good bit on blacksploitation films – and other titles include "The Apollo", "Suburbia", "Caucasians & Other White Folks", and "The Ghetto".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Vinyl has cosmetic sleeve marks. Cover has a split top seam, ring wear, center split on the spine.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Best Of Sellers
Angel, 1958. Very Good+
Early goofy comedy material from Peter Sellers, recorded very much in the spirit of his Goon Show days – and less in the style of his later cloying Blake Edwards ones. Titles include "The Trumpet Volunteer", "Auntie Rotter", "We Need The Money", "Party ... LP, Vinyl record album

Incredible early work from Brenda & The Tabulations – one of the best male/female soul groups of their era, yet one that's often sadly overlooked!
