Ferrante & Teicher With Percussion

LP (Item 7259) ABC, Early 60s — Condition: Very Good

Another one of their crazy LPs, which are sometimes hard to find amidst the pop stuff they normally did. This one's got them doing some originals and some standards, augmented by a tight little ensemble of three percussionists and one bassist. The added instruments drive their piano stuff – which is already percussive enough, what with weird keys and mallet designs – into a driving new dimension. 12 tracks in all, including "Che Si Dice", "Va Va Voom", "Aflame", "Parade Of The Bobbies", "Cielito Lindo", "Beyond The Blue Horizon", "Three O'Clock In The Morning" and "The Nearness Of You".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono white label promo copy. Cover has light wear and aging, and a center split in the bottom seam.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ferrante & Teicher

Heavenly Sounds In Hi Fi
ABC, Early 60s. Very Good
One of the best non-Winchester albums from the team of Ferrante & Teicher – not as crazy as some of their work, but still with some good elements of the piano trickery that made them famous. Titles include "Out Of This World", "East Of The Sun", "Over The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dick Hyman

Concerto Electro
Command/ABC, Late 60s. Near Mint- Gatefold
Not as "electro" as you might expect from the title, but a pretty nice little record from Dick! The album has Hyman playing Baldwin electric piano in front of larger orchestrations – running through a suite of tracks that move from jazz to classic to "rock" type rhythms ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bob Thiele

Do The Love
ABC, Late 60s. Very Good+
Square-headed Bob Thiele tries to get a bit hip in kind of an olde-fashioned 1920's vein, with arrangements by Sid Feller, and some vocalizing by Steve Allen. Thiele plays a Selmer clarinet, and he's joined by The Sunflower Singers on a number of tracks. Cuts include "Jet Me To Frisco", ... LP, Vinyl record album
Liberty/Sunset, Late 50s. Very Good-
This is the craziest Mancini LP we've ever heard, and probably our favorite too! This is early stuff by him, and it's unlike anything else he ever did. The bulk of the album is weird spooky accordian and organ music, played super super slow, with hauting, even scary arrangements. The whole thing' ... LP, Vinyl record album

18th Century Concepts

In the 20th Century Bag
Sidewalk, Late 60s. Very Good+
Some "baroque" pop stuff from this groovy studio band on Sidewalk. As the liner notes say "The great hits of today, with today's exciting beat", but with a group that gives the songs a fake 18th century sound. Mike Curb's on keyboards, and there may be a potential Wu-Tang ... LP, Vinyl record album
