4.80 11

Dark disco from Kano – lots of electronic drums and keyboards, with a sound that's almost equally post-punk as it is early 80s club. Tracks include the monstrous "I'm Ready", "It's A War", "Now Baby Now", "Cosmic Voyager", and "Super Extra Sexy Sign". (Cover has some edge wear and a few creases.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Say You Love Me Too
ABC, 1973. Very Good
Weird mix of Philly soul production with vocals that have more of a southern soul kind of feel to them. Charles' voice is nice and rich, and the tracks are arranged by Vince Montana & Norman Harris. Includes some nice ballads, and a few uptempo tracks, including a Philly version of Steely Dan' ... LP, Vinyl record album

Truth Is On Its Way
Right On, 1971. Very Good
Nikki G in total righteousness, surrounded by a big choir, and dropping knowledge on cuts like "Great Pax Whitey", "Poem For Aretha", and "Ego Tripping". Very spiritual stuff, with backing vocals by the New York Community Choir, who also recorded a great soul album on ... LP, Vinyl record album

There's A Riot Goin' On
Epic, 1971. Very Good- Gatefold
A wonderful album from Sly and crew – moving way past the straight funk approach of earlier records, into a complicated crossover soul style that's filled with warmth and righteousness. Despite the political tone implied by the "riot" in the title and the co-option of the American ... LP, Vinyl record album

Blue Note, 1964. Very Good
A killer pounding session from Blakey! The record was recorded during Blakey's bright flash of genius in 1964, when the Jazz Messengers were briefly revisited by Lee Morgan and Wayne Shorter, with the added horn of Curtis Fuller to add new colors to the group. Cedar Walton's on piano, and his ... LP, Vinyl record album

Steel Image
Fontana, 1970. Very Good+
A great steel band record, pretty much all covers and just about all funky, too! Like a lot of the groups updating the Carribbean sound with touches of rock, soul and funk, these guys seemed to have their brief moment, then just about completely disappear. There's vocals on some of the tracks, ... LP, Vinyl record album
