Ritual

LP (Item 721870) ECM, 1977 — Condition: Sealed
The best Keith Jarrett spirit of the 70s – those long, exploratory lines he virtually invented on solo piano – performed here by pianist Dennis Russell Davies! The set's one of the warmest we've ever heard from Davies – as he spins out on two side-long interpretations of this composition by Jarrett – a piece that clearly allows a lot of room for personal introspection, in a way that makes it very much a blending of the two individuals. The work is less freewheeling than some of Keith's long improvisations, but has a very similar spirit – and stands nicely next to those solo piano classics on ECM. The set features one long piece – "Ritual" – over both sides of the record.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Sealed copy! Cover has a cutout notch.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

ECM, 1976. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold

First Circle
ECM, 1984. Near Mint-
Arguably the last great album to come from the classic Pat Metheny collaboration with Lyle Mays – a record that's tightened up considerably from some of the group's earlier efforts, but which gives as its reward some wonderfully compelling tunes!
