Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Graham Collier

Midnight Blue
Disconforme (Spain), 1975. Used
A beautiful little record that's as evocative as its title – a lesser-known gem from the mid 70s years of Graham Collier! Collier's really hitting a high point here – stretching out with a much more expansive sound than on his earliest albums – not in a larger-concept or more ... CD
Cuneiform, 2010. Used
A very well rendered tribute to Steve Lacy from a group that formed specifically to perform some of most left of center compositions of the great jazz sax player and composer! The shortest pieces here run north of 6 minutes and the longest is closer to 12, nice and roomy with plenty of space to ... CD

Chris McGregor's Brotherhood Of Breath

Eclipse At Dawn
Cuneiform, 1971. Used
A previously unissued performance by the Brotherhood Of Breath – recorded at a time when the group was at the height of their early powers! Some of the styles here are in the straighter, South African-inspired jazz of pianist Chris McGregor's roots – but other tracks get far more ... CD
Virgin/Cuneiform, Early 70s. Used 2CD
Two amazing albums from the team of Lol Coxhill and Steve Miller – augmented here by a fair bit of previously unreleased bonus work! Both records were issued during the early years of Virgin Records in the 70s – and are of a similar spirit to some of Robert Wyatt's more experimental ... CD

Zoot Sims

Zoot Sims In Paris

Stanley Turrentine

Hustlin' (RVG remaster edition)
Blue Note, 1964. Used
One of Stanley Turrentine's few organ-based sessions for Blue Note – recorded in the company of his wife Shirley Scott, a real cooker on the Hammond who holds it down masterfully here – and great band that's filled out by Kenny Burrell on guitar, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Otis Finch on ... CD

Blue Mitchell

Blue's Moods
Riverside/OJC, 1960. Used
An early session as a leader from trumpeter Blue Mitchell – recorded during his glory years with Horace Silver! Unlike his other records, which usually have him in the company of another horn player, this set's got him carrying the full horn solo load by himself – working in a quartet, ... CD

Pharoah Sanders

Karma
Impulse/MCA, 1969. Used
Quite possibly the best-remembered album from Pharoah Sanders' legendary run at Impulse Records – a set that crossed over big, and sold to countless folks who might not have bought a jazz album this hip otherwise! The record was Sanders' first in the wake of Coltrane's passing – and it' ... CD

Freddie Hubbard

Breaking Point!
Blue Note, 1966. Used
Pivotal work from trumpeter Freddie Hubbard – a tight, edgy quintet performance that's done with a modern jazz sound that approaches the Blue Note "new thing" sound, but which stays just this side of the fence to keep in line with Freddie's other soulful work of the 60s – yet ... CD
