Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Oh No

Ohnomite
Brick/Five Day Weekend, 2012. Used

Five Day Weekend, 2012. Used
A whirling maelstrom of sample-based hip hop funk instros from Oh No – working here as Dr No, thank you very much – and here he's going even deeper with the Dolemite samples-heavy formula of the preceding Ohnomite set! That record is a fresh, creative twist on the time-honored ... CD

Tribe Called Quest

Midnight Marauders
Jive, 1993. Used
A masterpiece from prime era Tribe Called Quest! Midnight Maurauders was Tribe's third LP, and even though there were no tracks yet credited to the Ummah, this is pretty much the beginning of Tribe's transition to that sound – with the same mellow, laid back vibe as their best early material ... CD
Tommy Boy/Traffic, 1986. Used
A classic from Stetsasonic – who truly were On Fire in their prime! It seemed like Stet were the group that could do it all in the early days, with live instrumentation, beat boxing, and Prince Paul on the 1's and 2's. This LP's a classic of bygone days, will we ever feel this vibe again? ... CD
Def Jam, 1991. Used
"Pop Goes..." was 3rd Bass' biggest commercial hit, taking on Vanilla Ice, if not by name, at least in concept (and video) , but the cut to check for here is "Derelicts..." , produced by Prince Paul and remixed by the Stimulated Dummies. Supposedly, Serch STILL has beef with ... CD

Latyrx

Album
Quannum, 1997. Used
The waaaay overlooked Latyrx LP! Lateef & Lyrics Born pretty much laid the groundwork for what was going to be some of the most adventurous underground hip hop to come out of Cali in the mid-to-late 90s – opening the door for Blackalicious, the J5 and others. DJ Shadow's great production ... CD
Tommy Boy, 1993. Used
Remember the days when the Naughty By Nature sound ruled the airwaves as well as the street? It's not hard to when you drop the needle on fat classics like these two cuts, that went a long way towards proving you could have commercial appeal and still keep it real with tough rhymes bookended by ... Beastie Boys

Some Old Bullsh!t
Grand Royal, 1982. Used
This set compiles the early, pre-Def Jam recordings by The Beasties – some of which are not hip hop at all, and feature the band playing loud and fast hardcore. Fortunately, though, the album includes the incredible Cooky Puss e.p. – which features the original "Cooky Puss" ... CD

Run The Jewels

Run The Jewels
Fool's Gold, 2013. Used Gatefold
El-P and Killer Mike finally deliver a killer duo record! We knew that this one would be a win, considering how great the El-P produced RAP Music album by Killer Mike turned out to be, how versatile the El-P futuristic production vibe is and how timelessly inventive each rapper is on their own. ... CD
Psycho+Logical, 2003. Used
Gory $h!t from the one and only Necro, Ill Bill, and Non Phixion members. 17 tracks including "I'm Your Idol", "Dopesick", "Reign in Blood", Swordfish", "The Big Sleep", "Fire", "Watch Ya Toes, "Every Second Someone Dies", " ... CD

Travis Blaque

Many Facets Of
Unique (Germany), 2006. Used
Funky stuff from UK MC Travis Blaque – a really solid set of straight up, no BS hip hop! Travis and a thick accent and wry sensibility that has makes his appearances on the make distinctly British, but the heavily funk beat are refreshly free of flash-in-the-pan trendiness, and go down ... CD
