Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
The first-ever solo set from the great Boz Scaggs – done after a few key early performances with The Steve Miller Band – and with a style that's even more soulful than some of Scaggs' later work! The style is unabashedly soul-based – as the set was recorded at Muscle Shoals, with ... LP, Vinyl record album
'69 was certainly Aretha's year – as the success of her initial round of Atlantic recordings had pushed her fully into the limelight, making her one of the most exposed, most reported-on artists in soul music! This album was cut during the height of that time, with Arif Mardin handling all ... LP, Vinyl record album
Wonderful work from Chic – a record that maybe didn't include any super-huge hits, but which is maybe even better because of that – a sometimes-overlooked gem that has the team of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards in perfectly sharp formation! The group have already moved past disco, ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great one that showcases the group's best second suit – their smooth compressed late 70s soul sound – a great evolution of their earlier groove, and one that showed them as a great mainstream soul act! The tunes are a bit mellower overall, but still have a lot of crackle and warmth ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice collection of some of Roberta's finest moments: 'Killing Me Softly With His Song", "The Closer I Get To You", "You've Got A Friend", "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Where Is The Love", "The First Time ... LP, Vinyl record album
About as classic as you can get for The Spinners – and one of the group's marvelous 70s collaborations with the mighty Thom Bell! Before hooking up with Philly, The Spinners were already a wonderful vocal group – but here, in the hands of Bell, they hit a sound that's completely ... LP, Vinyl record album
A pivotal album for Ray Charles – one that features the sweet electric piano jammer "What'd I Say" – offered up here in 2 parts, and a track that would become the prototype for so many funk songs in years to come! There's a vibe here that really takes off from the R&B of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Seminal work from one of Atlantic's best soul singers of the late 60s! Features Percy's huge hit "When A Man Loves A Woman", plus "Out Of Left Field", "Warm & Tender Love", "Cover Me", "Sudden Stop", "You're All Around Me", "My ... LP, Vinyl record album
While this is the sort of collection labels churn out as a loss leader, to spark interest in their artists, this set actually shows off the depth of talent in the Atlantic catalog throughout the 60s. Mostly soul and R&B, but with a few pop numbers too, the twelve song set plays great as ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice selection of late 60s soul and R&B titles off the Atlantic roster: Aretha Franklin "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)", Wilson Pickett "Land Of 1000 Dances", Joe Tex "Hold What You've Got", Arthur Conley "Sweet Soul Music", Esther Phillips ... LP, Vinyl record album
Way more than just a "boogie" album – as you might think from the title – and much more a hard-hitting batch of funky tunes, mixed with some even cooler laidback numbers! The album follows heavily off the style of Wild & Peaceful – mixing together the group's older ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great album of mellow modern soul tracks recorded in Chaka's post-Rufus years! The record was produced by the great Arif Mardin, the man who made so many of the 70s Atlantic soul records work so well – and he handled Chaka's voice with a sweet sweet sound that you don't always get on her ...
