Greatest Of Carmen McRae

LP (Item 716659) MCA, Late 50s — Condition: Sealed
2LP Gatefold
Includes a whopping thirty-two selections over 2 LPs, with "Love Is A Simple Thing", "Yesterdays", "Good Morning Heartache", "Lush Life", "Summertime", "Perdido", "Baltimore Oriole", "All The Things You Are", and more!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mid 70s issue in a gatefold cover, still sealed, with a cutout hole and price sticker remnants.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Time, 1962. Very Good+
A wonderful set by Carmen McRae – captured at San Francisco's Sugar Hill in 1962 – backed by a tight trio! Catalyst, 1973. Very Good+
A very unusual session for Carmen McRae – a live recording that features only her vocals and piano, on spare readings of a number of sophisticated songs that ably demonstrate the class and care she was bringing to her work at the time! Impulse, 1964. Very Good+ Gatefold
A beautiful album from Lorez Alexanderia – one of her two excellent sessions for Impulse! Daffodil, 1975. Very Good+
A wonderful mid 70s session from Blossom Dearie – a small combo outing, but one that's less in the straighter trio style of some of her other records on the Daffodil label!
