16 Greatest Hits

LP (Item 712102) ABC/Dunhill, Late 60s/Early 70s — Condition: Near Mint-

Titles include "Born To Be Wild", "Rock Me", "Move Over", "Snowblind Friend", "Ride With Me", "Magic Carpet Ride", "The Pusher", "Sookie Sookie", "Screaming Night Hog", "Monster", "Tenderness", and "Jupiter's Child".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Black label ABC/Dunhill pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Steely Dan

Greatest Hits
ABC, 1970s. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
We've always considered Steely Dan one of the quintessential 70s "Album Oriented Rock" bands, in that all of there albums work so well as a whole, so the idea of a greatest hits collection doesn't exactly work for us. Still, taken out of context, these songs are still gems, and listening ... LP, Vinyl record album

Litter

Emerge
Probe/ABC, 1969. Very Good- Gatefold
Heavy fuzzed out psychedelia from the late 60s Twin Cities scene – the wild and hard charging Emerge from The Litter – with a heft that would be just as right at home in Detroit at the time as it was in Minneapolis! A lot of that has to due to with the heft – the drums pound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Emitt Rhodes

Mirror
Dunhill, 1971. Very Good Gatefold
One of the best records that Emitt Rhodes cut on his own after leaving The Merry Go Round – a slightly rough blend of rock, folk, and dimmed sunny pop influences – and a perfect document of the waning light of the west coast scene at the turn of the 70s. There's almost a boozy feel to ... LP, Vinyl record album

Joe Walsh

Barnstorm
Dunhill, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
The excellent solo debut from lumbering rock guitar virtuoso Joe Walsh – buzzing, melodic and extremely tuneful early 70s rock that's refreshingly free of the processed cheese that characterized much of his later material, both solo and as an Eagle – and possibly the best work he's ... Emitt Rhodes

Emitt Rhodes
Dunhill, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold
A really great self-titled set from Emitt Rhodes – a compelling California singer who hardly ever gets his due! The music's a wonderful mix of California late 60s singer/songwriter modes and bits of Beatles-esque production – a blend that makes for a fuller feel than usual for a record ... ABC, 1976. Sealed Gatefold
A record with a gimmicky title and cover, but a real overlooked gem from mid 70s ABC Records – handled with sublime care in the studio from producer Gary Katz, engineer Roger Nichols, and a host of session players who worked on some of the Steely Dan records of the time!
