Sunforest

LP (Item 71151) Blue Thumb, 1973 — Condition: Near Mint-
Later work by Tom Rapp – recorded after his early years with Pearls Before Swine, when Rapp was working on his own as a singer/songwriter, and really expanding his own unique musical vision. The album's got surprisingly full backings – very different than the rough folksy touches of earlier records, with instrumentation that includes flute, cello, violin, banjo, harp, and the usual small group guitar, bass, and drums. Overall, the album's got a warmer more developed sound than Rapp's earlier work – almost optimistic, or if not that, at least confident and capable in the choice of subject matter. Titles include "Forbidden City", "Comin Back", "Prayers Of Action", "Sunforest", "Someplace To Belong", "Blind River", and "Love/Sex".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has a cut corner, ring and edge wear, some yellowing from age, and stained spots at the spine.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Stardancer
Blue Thumb, 1972. Very Good+
Beautiful music from singer Tom Rapp – probably best known as the lead voice behind Pearls Before Swine, but a hell of a solo act on his own! The work here follows in the same moody, melancholic territory as the best ESP sides from Pearls Before Swine – but there's also a bit tighter ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nenad Jelic & Laza Ristovski

Opera
RTB (Yugoslavia), 1985. Sealed

Vincebus Eruptum
Philips, 1968. Very Good

Live Peace In Toronto
Apple, 1969. Near Mint-
The earliest incarnation of the Plastic Ono band, and more or less a one off, with an all-star line up that included Eric Clapton and Klaus Voorman alongside Lennon and Ono. One side of the rootsy rock that was the old school Beatles stock in trade, and one side of Yoko Ono doing her thing on the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Led Zeppelin IV
Atlantic, 1971. Near Mint- Gatefold
Hard rock perfected! It's around Led Zeppelin IV that you can easily say that the group moved up from being incredibly great to flat-out legendary – really in a class by themselves, although maybe they'd already reached that point with the sublime sounds of the previous three records! Iron Butterfly

Heavy
Atco, 1968. Very Good+
Heavy sounds from Iron Butterfly – a record that's not nearly as well known as their classic In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida – but which has a very similar vibe all the way through! The songs are a bit shorter, but these guys really manage to do a lot with a little – using lots of brooding ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rumours

One of the most classic albums of the 70s – a never-ending hit that's continued to inspire generations! Lonnie Liston Smith

Astral Traveling
Flying Dutchman, 1973. Sealed Gatefold
One of Lonnie Liston Smith's most spiritual sessions, and the record that most clearly shows his roots with Pharoah Sanders!
