Magical Music Of Walt Disney – 50 Years Of Original Motion Picture Soundtracks (4LP Box Set)

LP (Item 710045) Walt Disney/Ovation, 1978 — Condition: Sealed
4LP Box Set

A special box set, with music from 50 years of Disney films – including instrumentals from early features!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mundell Lowe

Billy Jack
Warner, 1971. Near Mint- Gatefold
If there was anything weirder than the Billy Jack series of films in the 70s, it was the soundtracks! The records feature overall scoring by Mundell Lowe, with jazzy instrumentals that are trying to have a serious "southwest" sound to them – plus lots of vocal tracks with a similar ... Mainstream, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
A fairly straight orchestral score by John Barry – written for this early 60s film that starred George Segal, Tom Courneay, and Denholm Elliott. The film's a war one, and the themes are pretty typical for that sort of thing – but they do have some nice instrumental touches that push ... LP, Vinyl record album
Amos/Bell, Early 70s. Near Mint- Gatefold
The cover to this one advertises the more famous names that do tracks for the album – like Mountain, Delaney & Bonnie, and others – but the best tracks here are those by the great arranger Jimmy Bowen, who turns out some excellent complicated funky numbers that have a bit of a hippy ... John Barry

Last Valley
ABC, 1971. Near Mint-
Quite a shift for John Barry – not the usual groovy music you might expect, and instead a somewhat serious score written for this historical epic written and directed by James Clavell, starring Omar Sharif and Michael Caine! The sound is still wonderful, though – proof that Barry was ... LP, Vinyl record album

Quincy Jones/Jose Feliciano

Mackenna's Gold

A western soundtrack – but one that's groovier than you might expect, given that the music was done by Quincy and Jose! The general style is strings and western themes, but Quincy manages to put a bit of bounce at the bottom – using an electric bass in a syncopated style that's quite ... LP, Vinyl record album

Spacey electronic score to this bizarre German orgy film from the late 70s! Klaus is in a sparer mode than some of the mid 70s Tangerine Dream recordings – but the music is quite compelling, and the record only contains three long tracks – "Stardancer", "Blanche", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Carly Simon makes a big appearance here – singing the hit title track "Nobody Does It Better" – one of the highest-charting Bond film tunes of the 70s! But our favorites are the instrumental songs – handled by Marvin Hamlisch here with a sound that's perhaps a bit more ... LP, Vinyl record album

The soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's first film, and a surprisingly groovy batch of tracks!
