Touch (Original Master Recording)

LP (Item 707837) Mobile Fidelity/MCA, 1975 — Condition: Near Mint-
With Dave Grusin on Rhodes and piano, Larry Carlton on guitar, Chuck Domenico on bass, John Guerin on drums, and Joe Porcaro and Emil Richards on percussion.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

John Klemmer

Magnificent Madness
Elektra, 1980. Near Mint-
Nothing too mad from reedman John Klemmer – but a set that nicely continues that spacey sound that Klemmer first created at Impulse Records, then moved into some warmer, more soulful territory on records like this! Klemmer's still got an incredibly strong sound on tenor – rich and full ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nautilus/MCA, 1979. Near Mint- Gatefold
Great later blowing from John Klemmer – clear, clean, and extremely well-focused – with nary a dull moment throughout! The album's a mostly acoustic one – save for some keyboards from Milcho Leviev – and the sound is tremendous, very much in keeping with the farther-reaching ... LP, Vinyl record album

Crusaders

Free As The Wind
MCA, 1977. Near Mint-
The Crusaders are really going strong at this point – in near-hit status, almost acting as the Steely Dan of LA jazz. The sound is certainly slicker than before, but in a way that's actually pretty darn nice – as Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Stix Hooper, and Larry Carlton come together ... LP, Vinyl record album

Deodato

Whirlwinds
MCA, 1974. Near Mint- Gatefold
Sweet keyboard soul from Deodato – a set that steps off nicely from the strengths of his big hits on CTI, hitting a similarly flowing groove that's really great! The instrumentation here is a bit more expanded than before, but never in a way that buries the keyboards – and Deodato's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Crusaders

Standing Tall
MCA, 1981. Near Mint-
The Crusaders standing tall at the start of the 80s – getting great grooves from the lean trio of Wilton Felder on saxes and bass, Joe Sample on keyboards, and Stix Hooper on drums! The mighty Barry Finnerty handles most of the guitar solos here – although David T Walker also plays a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mobile Fidelity/Blue Note, 1977. Near Mint-
A real breakout album for Earl Klugh – the kind of record that got him on the a-list of fusion players for the rest of the 70s! The title here is especially well-chosen – as the tunes have a gently colorful feel that's never too slick, despite the tighter setting of the album – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Verve/Mobile Fidelity, 1965. Near Mint-
An incredible album from Wes Montgomery – and the beginning of a whole new sound for his guitar! Wes moves away from his small combo soul jazz roots on the set – and hits a wonderfully sweet new vibe with larger arrangements from Don Sebesky – bigger backdrops that fill in the ...
