Adventures

LP (Item 705368) CBS/Sony (Japan), 1984 — Condition: Very Good

(Original pressing, 28AH 1693, including the pink obi and insert. Cover has some aging and a sticker spot.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Woody Shaw

Rosewood
CBS, 1978. Very Good+
Woody Shaw's debut for Columbia Records – and easily one of the most soulful major label jazz sessions of the 70s! CBS, 1982. Near Mint-
A classic album of all-out soul from Herbie Hancock – done in close collaboration with Rod Temperton of Heatwave – in a jazzy-styled version of that group's own great groove! Terumasa Hino

Trans-Blue
Sony (Japan), 1984. Near Mint-
Terumasa Hino's looking a bit cheesy on the cover of this one – but the record's hardly the slick 80s affair you might expect – and instead is a great session of ballads and more gentle numbers, recorded in the US with full string backings and a warmly sensitive approach to the music! ... Sony (Japan), 1970. Near Mint- 2LP
Four sides of noisy, funky, stretched-out playing from Miles Davis – recorded at the Fillmore West, but with an intensity that matches some of Miles' crazy electric recordings from Japan during the early 70s! The music is a powerful blast of music that stretches out over the double-length ... LP, Vinyl record album

VSOP (Herbie Hancock, et al)

Five Stars
Sony (Japan), 1979. Near Mint- Gatefold
A killer album by this legendary jazz supergroup – a Japanese-only set that we'd rank right up there with some of Herbie Hancock's Japanese albums from the same time! Out To Lunch
Blue Note, 1964. Very Good+
One of Eric Dolphy's lasting classics – and possibly the ultimate album of "new thing" jazz from the mid 60s! Dave Baby Cortez

Tweetie Pie
Roulette, Mid 60s. Very Good+
Not as funky as the albums he'd later cut in the early 70s, but still a lot of short groovy little organ tracks with the Baby Cortez feel to them.
