Lesley Gore Sings Of Mixed-Up Hearts

LP (Item 697924) Mercury, 1963 — Condition: Very Good+

There's nothing mixed up about this great little record – as Lesley Gore comes across with a solid, mature approach that's quite surprising, given her teenage years at the time – a quality that makes the album a lot deeper than just the usual throwaway pop of the time! Gore's not yet writing her material, but she's got a great way of making many songs her own through surprisingly heartfelt performance – at a level that blends sweeter girl pop modes and a slight current of jazz, as you might find on records from Joanie Sommers at the same time. The great Claus Ogerman handled arrangements – certainly a guiding force on the record – and titles include a great reading of "Sunshine Lollipops & Rainbows", plus "She's A Fool", "The Old Crowd", "Young & Foolish", "Run Bobby Run", "Time To Go", "I Struck A Match", and "You Don't Own Me".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono pressing.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
