Magnets

LP (Item 696245) Liberty, 1981 — Condition: Near Mint-
The overlooked second album from The Vapors – a set that's every bit as tuneful and catchy as their first – a blend of early punk modes with a growing sense of songcraft – maybe in the same place at the moment as work by The Undertones, or even The Jam – with whom the group have a bit of a connection! As with their debut, the set's filled with catchy songs that should have gotten them a lot more play at the time – a nice edge, and never too polished for a bigger label – with titles that include "Can't Talk Anymore", "Johnny's In Love Again", "Spiders", "Isolated Case", "Live At The Marquee", "Daylight Titans", and "Magnets".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover is bent a bit at the spine.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Eddie Cochran

Singin' To My Baby
Liberty, 1957. Near Mint-
One of the weirdest moments we've ever heard from early rocker Eddie Cochran – but one of the coolest too! The record has less of the raw rock material that you might know from Eddie's greater fame – and it mixes his core rockabilly modes with some fuller pop backings from Johnny Mann, ... Ventures

Horse
Liberty, 1968. Very Good+
One of the best late 60s albums by the Ventures – a lot more hard-wailing than usual – and done with a fair bit of influence from funk and soul music too! The title cut gives the album away nicely – as it's a cover of Cliff Nobles' classic funky 45 "The Horse", done ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ride The Wild Surf
Liberty, Mid 60s. Very Good+
Plenty of surf number stepping out here – but often with that great second-chapter Beach Boys mode – that pre-Pet Sounds style that's often got some darker currents underneath!
