Oscar Peterson Plays Harold Arlen

LP (Item 689186) Clef, Early 50s — Condition: Very Good

(Black label trumpeter logo pressing with deep groove. Cover has some wear and aging.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

An evocative title, and one that really sets the stage for the great sound of the record – an Oscar Peterson album that's a bit more open and flowing than usual – with some great long tracks, and a mighty soulful sound throughout! Clef, 1951/1952. Very Good+
Beautifully spare work from Oscar Peterson – an album that mostly features him in duet formation with Ray Brown's bass, in a style that's got even more space and openness than some of his other Verve sessions from the time. Peterson's got a way around the keys that's amazing even at this ... LP, Vinyl record album

Less an interpretation of Porgy & Bess than an extrapolation of its themes – one that lets the Peterson trio recraft the music into their own! Verve, 1957. Near Mint-
An unusual live date for Oscar Peterson – in that it wasn't actually officially recorded by Verve, but done by a fan and handed over to Norman Granz at a later date! A key example of the popularity of the Oscar Peterson Trio in the mid 60s – an album of tracks that listeners wanted to hear done in the group's familiar style! An early Norm Granz production, before they were issued under the JATP moniker, though basically the same idea. In fact, this set would later get repackaged as a JATP side.
