Motown Meets The Beatles

CD (Item 685591) Motown/Spectrum (UK), 1960s — Condition: Used
$8.99 ...

CD

It's no surprise that the music of The Beatles crossed over big with all music listeners of the 60s – and this great set documents that huge influence the Beatles' original tunes had on Motown! The set features 17 tracks – from the early sweet days of Motown, to the later slightly-psychedelic ones, all Beatles tunes, done in soulful versions that really work wonders with the original compositions. Titles include "The Fool On The Hill" by The Four Tops, "Hey Jude" by The Temptations, "We Can Work It Out" by Stevie Wonder, "Eleanor Rigby" by Four Toops, "Hard Days Night" by The Supremes, "My Sweet Lord" by Edwin Star, "Imagine" by Diana Ross, "Something" by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, "She's Leaving Home" by Syreeta, "And I Love Her" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, and "Yesterday" by Marvin Gaye.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(BMG music club pressing.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Ride To The Rainbow
Motown/P-Vine (Japan), 1979. Used
A bold little set from Thelma Houston – produced with a strong disco finish, in a way that makes the best of her fierce diva vocals! The album's got a unity that's nicely appreciated – especially since some of Houston's other records could be a bit too unfocused or overblown – ... CD

Thelma's one of those singers who must have been waiting years for disco to come around and help her find a reason to sing! Her career was slightly ill-timed in the beginning, coming along with a baroque soul beginning that was great, yet somewhat out of place in the early 70s. But enter a record ... CD

A great Motown album from Chris Clark – one of the few white singers ever signed to the label, and a great vocalist at that! Chris has a sound that's quite unique – halfway between Motown soul and some of the soul-inspired pop of the time – particularly that of UK singers like ... CD

Motown (Japan), 1983. Used
One of the strangest acts to come from Motown in the early 80s – and almost more of a new wave record than a soul one! The standout hit here is the title track "Somebody's Watching Me" – an odd electro tune that has Rockwell speaking/singing these paranoid lyrics with a vague ... CD

You're The Man
Motown, 1972. Used
