The definitive batch of tracks by one of the 70s' most famous funk ensembles ever! The Lafayette Afro Rock Band were a bunch of Americans, relocated in Paris, who mixed that city's strong African music traditions with their own American funk and soul leanings. The result was an incredible sound that included lots of heavy percussion, fuzzy guitar, and the very cool "magic bag" sound that was half vocoder/half keyboard! This compilation of tracks features the band at all of their incarnations – from the early group Ice, to the middle group Lafayette Afro Rock Band, to the later group Ice, to the backup on albums by Mal Waldron, Crispy & Co, and Dr.Beezar. The notes are impeccable, and even if you've got some of our other reissues by the group, this one has tracks that have never been out before – and it's got amazing notes that totally show the whole history of the group, and which give a full (and complicated!) discography! A beautiful package, and essential for groove hounds of all varieties. All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
