Hot To The Touch

LP (Item 684791) Elektra, 1988 — Condition: Sealed

(Shrinkwrap has a DMM sticker. Cover has a cutout notch.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Starpoint

Keep On It
Chocolate City, 1981. Very Good+
Excellent work from Starpoint – the kind of all-solid album that easily marks them as one of the most soulful groups of the boogie generation! There's a depth here that goes way beyond simple bass-heavy grooves for the dancefloor – a sound that picks a fair bit up from the Earth Wind ... LP, Vinyl record album

Twennynine With Lenny White

Best Of Friends
Elektra, 1979. Very Good+
Jazzy soul all the way through – and a great little album from Lenny White and the Twennynine combo – a group that features some especially great keyboards from the great Don Blackman! After The Rain
Elektra, 1980. Very Good
A great little album by this jazzy soul harmony quartet! The record is their first on Elektra, and has a slightly more modern sound than earlier years – but it retains all the best parts of their Fantasy recordings – and is perhaps even better than them, because it has less tracks in ... Fred Parris & The Satins

Fred Parris & The Satins
Elektra, 1982. Very Good+
The Five Satins were always one of the classiest groups of the doo wop era – and they really continue that legacy here in a wonderful set of modern soul tracks from the early 80s – a record that's got all the careful poise and polish of other excellent Elektra soul albums from the same ... Elektra, 1981. Near Mint-
The third album by this Leon Ware side project – and possibly the best! And as ... LP, Vinyl record album

Azz Izz
Elektra, 1982. Near Mint-

Howard Hewett

I Commit To Love
Elektra, 1986. Near Mint-
An 80s classic from Howard Hewett – just the kind of set that made the singer one of the freshest voices in soul at the time! Terry Callier

Fire On Ice
Elektra, 1978. Very Good
One of the great albums from Terry Callier's "second chapter" on record – a time when he was working for Elektra Records, and doing work that was a bit straighter soul than before – and also slightly jazzy as well! The record's kind of a mix of jazzy grooves and smoother soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

BB & Q Band

Genie (Break)
Elektra, 1985. Very Good+
The last true classic from the masters of the 80s groove genre – a post-Capitol effort for Elektra, but one that's still awash in great keyboards and snapping electro beats! Some of the jazzier sound from the past is gone here, but in its place is a leaner, cleaner sound that's still a fair ... LP, Vinyl record album
