The triple "e" here is the key to the album's sound – as Kleeer are still very much at the top of their game, and opening up nicely with that string "wheeet" sound they get on their keyboards! The album's one of their key 80s partnerships with Deodato – who really helps them balance their sound, and come across with a style that's surprisingly rich and soulful – way more so than some of the other beats and keyboard acts of the time! A key part of this is the lead vocals of Woody Cunningham, who just gets better and better with each new record – and hits a level of maturity that moves far past simple electro pop. Titles include "Take Your Heart Away", "You Got Me Rockin", "Lay Ya Down Ez", "Call My Name", "Never Cry Again", and "Do Not Lie To Me".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Second Image

Strange Reflections
MCA/Finesse (UK), 1985. Used
A bit more mainstream than the first album from Second Image – but a set that still retains most of the group's charm! The best tracks here are sort of a laidback take on more forceful 80s groove modes – keyboards and basslines that snap nicely, but never go too far over the top – ... CD

Human Body

Cosmic Round Up
Elektra/Finesse (UK), 1985. Used
There's a Roger Troutman groove all over this album from Human Body – no surprise, since Roger plays guitar, keyboards, and bass – and even produced the album himself! The style's kind of a left-of-center take on the Zapp groove of the time – a bit rougher and more street-consciou ... CD

Second Image

Second Image
Polydor/Finesse (UK), 1983. Used
Sweet electro soul from Second Image – a group who manage to mix in plenty of beats and keyboards to their groove, yet never let the music get too cold! There's a playful sort of feeling to most numbers here – a style that's a bit different than US electro of the time, with less of a ... CD

This is it! A pretty darn complete document of one of the greatest soul labels of all time – put together in a wonderful box with a book on the label that's almost as great as the music on the 9CDs in the set! This one established a new standard for box sets when it was issued in 1991, and ... CD
