✈
A Mr Bongo collection of Brazilian grooves – put together in support of the Bottletop charity, and featuring a full bonus disc of remixes as well! Most of the tracks here are of relatively recent origin, but they've got a really classic feel overall – the warmer tones of 70s Brazilian jazz, the cooler rhythms of 60s bossa, and some of the freer dancefloor modes taken up worldwide in recent years! CD 1 features the cuts "Mar Afunda" by Os Novos Crioulos, "Amazonas" by Batida Do Corpo, "Toda Tercafeira" by Soul Quality Quartet, "E Isso Ai" by Paula Lima, "Urubu No Telhado" by Bazeado, "Cosinha II" by Dom Um Romao, "Injecao" by Deise Tigrona, "Nebulosa" by Tenorio Jr, "Goya" by Marcelo Salazar, and "Capoeira Love Affair" by Mr Hermano. CD 2 features remixes of the above – by Bonobo, Fatboy Slim, Jazzanova, MJ Cole, Yam Who, Zero PM, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, and Tom Middleton.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Lennie Dale with Bossa Tres

Um Show De Bossa
Elenco (Japan), 1963. Used
A live bit of bossa vocals from Lennie Dale – recording here with some cooking accompaniment from the Bossa Tres trio! The format is very spontaneous and relaxed – similar to an American live jazz vocal date of the time, but with a bossa groove instead – one that's a perfectly ... CD
Warner (Brazil), Late 70s/Early 80s. Used
The title might make this sound like a completists "best of" of work by Elis Regina, but it's actually a pretty good selection of tracks from the last years of her life, when she was recording for Elektra in Brazil, and working in a style that mixed her jazzy roots with more modern styles ... CD

Killer work by Astrud Gilberto – very different than her Verve sides of the 60s! The album was produced by Astrud, arranged by Deodato – and has that wonderful warm full jazz feel of her classic album on CTI, but also a bit more like some of the funky work of Jorge Ben at the time ... CD

Silent Poets

Nocturne (France), 2006. Used
