Still More Genius of Jankowski

LP (Item 6807) Mercury, 1966 — Condition: Very Good+

Fantastic piano work from the very groovy Horst Jankowski – an artist who's really stepping into his own with this sweet mid 60s album! The set still follows the balance of electric bass and hard piano sounds from Horst – but it also fleshes out the music in a really great way, by adding in these lovely larger backings from the Erwinh Lehn orchestra – every bit as full of color as on their classic album for MPS! The Lehn touch is a great one – and makes the whole thing really sound wonderful – with that balance of tonal complexity and straightforward groove that made some of the MPS/Saba productions so great. Titles include "Violets In March", "Elmer's Tune", "Black Forest Holiday", "Shadow of Your Smile", "Danke Danke", "Sir Scotch Whiskey", and "Let's Live a Little".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing with deep groove.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

The notes say that the album is "the rare plum of authenticity". We don't know if we'd go that far, but we can tell you that the record features Yma performing songs of the legendary Jivaro headhunters!
