Live Oblivion Vol 2

LP (Item 68050) RCA, 1974 — Condition: Very Good
2LP Gatefold

The second smoking Live Oblivion set from Brian Auger and crew – twice as long, and maybe even twice as funky as the first! The tunes on here all really push the ten minute mark – stretching out the original Auger conception on studio sides, and featuring plenty of room for really wicked solo work on organ and electric piano! The live setting seems to inspire the group to even greater new heights – and there's an intensity here that makes for some really great moments. Titles include the wonderful break-heavy version of "Compared To What" – plus "Second Wind", "Maiden Voyage", "Straight Ahead", "Freedom Jazz Dance", and "Inner City Blues".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Apart from being the son of Il Duce, Romano Mussolini also had the disctinction of being one of Italy's finest jazz pianists (and no, he didn't have to use dictatorial methods to get there!) We've carried a few reissues of his 70s electric work in the past, but this Japanese CD is about the first ... LP, Vinyl record album

Conte Candoli & Frank Rosolino

Conversation
RCA, 1974. Near Mint-
An excellent session cut during a stretch when the Candoli/Rosolino team were doing some of their best work – playing in Europe with a number of hip backup groups. This set features an Italian trio of Franco D'Andrea on piano, Giovanni Tomasso on bass, and Gege Munari on drums. Tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gary Burton Quartet

Country Roads & Other Places
RCA, 1969. Near Mint-
Hardly the kind of country roads you'd find traveled by other musicians – as Gary Burton's sound here is incredibly fresh – still as groundbreaking now as it was back in the 60s! The title might be a reference to Burton's Nashville roots, and the music does have a slightly pastoral ... LP, Vinyl record album

Chet Is Back!
RCA, 1962. Sealed
One of Chet Baker's rarest albums – and a great one! The session was recorded in Rome in 1962, at a time when Chet's star had fallen quite a bit on the American scene, and it features him working with some of the hippest European players at the time – like Rene Thomas on guitar, Bobby ... Afro-Cuban Influence
RCA, 1958. Very Good-

Gary Burton Trio

New Vibe Man In Town
RCA, 1961. Very Good-
The first-ever album from vibist Gary Burton – a very young player at the time of recording, but one who's definitely worth the "new vibe man" promised in the title! An RCA classic from Shorty – one that features an expanded version of his Giants group, running through some of the best compositions of Richard Rogers! Genuine Tong Funeral
RCA, 1968. Near Mint-

Amazing stuff from Ivan Boogaloo Joe Jones!
