Superstar Series

LP (Item 678603) Motown, 1980 — Condition: Very Good

...

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Four Tops

Four Tops
Motown, 1964. Near Mint-
The first full album from The Four Tops – and a tremendous showcase for their wonderful harmony vocals! The group has an organic quality that's wonderful enough on its own – one of the tightest, most fully-formed of all the Motown groups – but they get pushed strongly over the ... Rings
Motown, 1974. Sealed
Reuben's second album for Motown – the one in which they actually decided to put his face on the cover, and let folks know he was a blue eyed soul singer! Reach Out
Motown, 1967. Near Mint-
A classic 60s album by the Four Tops – really one of their better efforts of the period – a record that finds the group working some soulful magic on a couple of their best known tunes, as well as adding a dose of deeper emotion to some hit songs of the time! Like other Motown success ... LP, Vinyl record album

Supremes

Bit Of Liverpool
Motown, 1964. Very Good+
It's always interesting to note the way that Berry Gordy tried to move Motown out of the ghetto of US soul indies, by attempting various moves to realign the music with other spheres bigger than the scope of Detroit soul. Sometimes these moves were clear "loss leaders" that wouldn't ... LP, Vinyl record album

But Not Forgotten
United, Early 50s. Very Good+
Jesse was one of the greats – and he would have been as huge as Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, or Ray Charles, had he not died a tragic early death in the late 50s. This album collects some of his great polished R&B tracks from the early and mid 50s, recorded in LA, and a perfect progression ... LP, Vinyl record album
