Rock Festival

LP (Item 677638) Warner, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
A record with a bit of a joke on the cover, but one that's also got a much more mature version of The Youngbloods than just a few years before – a group who are moving past straighter folk, bringing in bits of psych and jazz elements – yet still also keeping their cool a lot more than most of their contemporaries! The mix of acoustic and electric elements is wonderful – these compressed guitar lines that are sometimes complex, sometimes flowing in waves – working with very inventive drums and percussion from Joe Bauer – who maybe even nods towards freer jazz styles at times. Piano is acoustic and electric, woven by Banana beautifully around the lead lyrics of Jesse Colin Young – on titles that include "It's A Lovely Day", "Sea Cow Boogie", "Misty Roses", "On Beautiful Lake Spenard", "Fiddler A Dram", and "Ice Bag".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
